Kenyatta University Students to remain under police custody

7 Kenyatta University students have been arrested in connection with illegal riots

The Seven students from Kenyatta University will be detained owing to pending investigations.

The seven who will be under police watch for five days are; George Nyamwea, Eric Masila, David Amisi David Kebaso Morara, a law student who unsuccessfully contested to the Kenyatta University Students’ Association (KUSA) during the November election, Trevar Agoi, Dominic Ochieng and Victor Nangacho.

These are suspected to have pioneered in setting a blaze KU administration and destroy a school gate. The riot was a result of disagreements between the administration and the students.

Police officers investigating the matter had earlier sought for permission in court to keep the suspects in custody so as to carry out investigations.

In a sworn affidavit addressed to Kiambu Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku, Dettective John Keter informed the court that they need a minimum of five days to finalize the case that has been pending.

The case has pended owing to the fact that students who are to take part in the investigation process have been on a break.

The police believe the detention will not only aid a smooth investigation process but also prevent the suspects from inciting other students
