Five Members of Parliament from the North East region have threatened to purchase firearms for their people if the Government does not improve security in the region.

Speaking on Wednesday during a press conference in Parliament buildings, the legislators led by Fafi MP Barre Shill noted that if the situation is not improved, they will be forced to buy the guns from Somalia to protect their people.

They gave the Government two months to end terror attack in the region.

"If the State does not act, we will be forced to mobilise our people and purchase guns from Somalia so that we can protect ourselves," Shill said.

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

Others at the conference included Garissa MP Shukran Gure, Dadaab’s Mohamed Duale Mohammed Shidiye (Lagdera) and Ibrahim Abba.

The lawmakers demanded the State to hire Kenyan Police Reservists (KPR) to tighten security in the area.

This comes a day after an aspiring Mandera North MP, Abdi Ali’s convoy was attacked by gunmen leaving one woman dead and another man injured.
