Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General John Njiriani has found himself in a hot spot after being part of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection lobby group.
Njiraini together with Energy Principal Secretary Joseph Njoroge attended a dinner organized to fundraise money for Mr Kenyatta's bid on Friday, June 9, 2017.
During the dinner, where the two civil servants were introduced as members of a technical team of a lobby group campaigning for Jubilee party, at least Sh1 billion was raised.
Following this, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) wrote to the Public Service Commission demanding the two to be investigated.
According to LSK President Isaac Okero, Njiraini and Njoroge were in breach of constitutional values and principles of public service.
LSK want PSC to establish whether the two abused office.
“It has been reported that the two were in attendance at a recent fundraising dinner event of a political party at which they were introduced as members of a technical committee of a lobby group associated with a said political and its presidential candidate,” LSK told PSC chair Margaret Kobia.
