Government Bans controversial song from Opposition Mp

Hard times ahead!!!

The Tanzanian government through the Music regulatory Board popularly known as BASATA as banned a controversial song from Opposition Member of Parliament.

BASATA has banned a song dubbed #219 released by Mbeya Town MP Joseph Osmund Mbilinyi aka Sugu.

According to an official statement from the government, the song has been termed as incitement and therefore it should not be played on TV and Radio.

The statement adds that the Mp should stop the distribution of the song with immediate effect.

“Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa (BASATA) limefungia rasmi wimbo wa #219 uliombwa na msanii Joseph Mbilinyi kutokana na kuwa na maneno ya uchochezi na kuhatarisha Amani na utengamano miongoni mwa jamii kwa ujumla. Sambamba na kufungia wimbo huo, BASATA linamuonya msanii huyo na kumwagiza kuacha mata moja kujihusisha kwa namna yoyote na tabia ya kuutangaza wimbo au kuusambaza  wimbo huo” reads part of the statement

This is not the first time the MP is finding himself on the wrong side of the law. He has been arrested severally for opposing the government.
