Details have emerged on an early morning meeting held between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
The meeting was also attended by Environment CS Keriako Tobiko and his Tourism counterpart Najib Balala.
Both President Kenyatta and CS Balala have had a strained relationship with the Mombasa Governor but the meeting held on Monday morning is reported to have gone on well and laid a foundation for a joint collaboration.
The meeting was confirmed by State House spokesperson Kanze Dena who indicated that President Kenyatta had agreed to Joho’s request for a regeneration project in Mombasa.
After the meeting at State House, Joho, Balala, and Tobiko addressed a joint meeting at the Mombasa Governor’s office.
The Mombasa county boss could not hide his joy as he heaped praise on President Kenyatta’s unity deal with his party leader Raila Odinga.
He promised a more coordinated response in dealing with the issues affecting the people of Mombasa.
“I told Najib (Balala) that for the last four years, I was not sure whether I am a governor or just a layman because I did not enjoy being a governor. Now I am already feeling that we are able to make a difference and enjoy our offices,” Joho said of his newfound partnership with the national government.
