Chief Justice David Maraga told off those accusing the Judiciary of laxity in the ongoing war against corruption.
Speaking on Monday during the swearing-in ceremony of Twalib Mbarak as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, CJ Maraga told the prosecutor shoddy cases will fail.
Avoid delays
He further stressed the need for the EACC to speed up investigations into pending and ongoing corruption cases.

CJ Maraga stated: “We want to assure you that the Judiciary will continue to do its part but let me say we’ll not allow you to use the Judiciary as the scapegoat."
He added: "If you bring a hopeless case, we’ll say in our judgment why we’re dismissing it.”
He called on the office of the DPP to work hand in hand with the EACC to avoid delay in corruption cases.
Strengthen intelligence
His sentiments were echoed by Attorney General Kihara Kariuki who challenged the EACC, DPP and DCI to work together cohesively.
AG Kihara also urged the Judiciary to up its game in the ongoing war against corruption to ensure justice is served.

EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak
The new EACC boss said he will focus ensuring impactful investigations by conducting comprehensive audit of the cases.
Mr. Mbarak further stated that he aims to build and strengthen on EACC’s intelligence and undercover capabilities to allow the anti-graft body to tackle emerging threats.
