Three people have been reported dead following an early morning accident in Changamwe, along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
According to area police boss, the matatu involved a matatu and a lorry.
Five other individuals sustained serious injuries and have been rushed to hospital.
Police Boss Peter Maina said investigations into the cause of the accident have begun.
The 14-seater matatu is said to have lost control before it overturned into oncoming traffic.
