Sonko's team takes drastic action on minister

The minister has been accused of insubordination.

The Nairobi County Executive Committee Member for Devolution and Public Service Management Ms. Veska Kangogo has been suspended under accusations of insurbodination.

In a letter from the  County Secretary and Head of County Public Service Peter Kariuki, Ms. Kangogo reportedly disobeyed orders given by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko against a trip to the United States.

"It has come to the attention of this office that you travelled to the United States of America on 1st June, 2018 having received express instructions from H.E the Governor not to proceed on the trip prior to departure ," read the letter.

Ms. Kangogo is expected to step aside from her duties following her misconduct.

"Your failure to obey lawful instructions from your appointing authority is tantamount to insubordination and therefore, you are hereby directed to step aside from your duties and responsibilities as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Devolution and Public Service Management and proceed on leave pending pending provision of a satisfactory response as to why you travelled without express authority."

It is not known why the governor had instructed Ms. Kangogo not to take the trip.
