RMS boss comes to the rescue of top Kenyan artistes jailed in Tanzania

The Royal Media Services (RMS) has come to the rescue of a top Kenyan artiste Lady Maureen who was arrested and jailed in Tanzania together with her band.

According to Lady Maureen who spoke to the Sunday nation when she arrived said that six members of her band who were still in jail were supposed to be released on Friday after RMS Chairman S. K. Macharia bailed them out but it was already late in the evening but would be released on Monday.

“He himself offered to release the six; only that it was quite late on Friday. On Monday, all of them will be out,” said Lady Maureen.

Lady Maureen and two of her band members were released after her fellow artistes paid their fine from funds that had been raised in six days through a WhatsApp group.

Seven other band members were released on Friday.

Reports of the Queen of Ohangla and his band member’s arrest came in on Thursday after they had stayed behind bars for nine days.

They were arrested for allegedly working in Tanzania without work permits.
