On September 1, 2017 history was made in Kenya after the Supreme Court nullified the Presidential Election asking IEBC to organize a fresh election within 60 days.
This day will also remain a good memory for a Nairobi hawker identified as Dennis Murimi Wachiri who sells sweets along Jogoo Road.
The 21- year-old got the opportunity to gift President Uhuru Kenyatta with a Sh20 PK chewing gum during his visit at the busy Burma market.

According to the Hawker, he saw the President and lifted up his sweets gesturing at him while shouting “Can I sell you this”
“I lifted an orange PK chewing gum and shouted while gesturing to him (Mr. President) can I sell you this?” recalls Dennis Murimi
Kenyatta’s security detail tried to block him but the President who was addressing the crowd had already seen him and gestured at his security personnel to allow the young man get closer to him.
“Everything happened so fast I could not believe it. When I got close to his vehicle, all I could do was to offer him a mint gum worth Sh20” said Murimi who spoke to NairobiNews.
The President gladly accepted his gift and cupped his benefactor’s head in his hand whispering something into his ear.
“He simply asked me what I wanted form him. I was in shock and I could not believe that I was talking to the head of state. I couldn't’t talk” revealed Murimi
Murimi who still lives with his family added that he makes roughly Sh700 on a good day.
