A Chuka University student was stabbed by her landlord on Wednesday evening after she allegedly plucked mangoes from a tree in his compound.

Confirming the incident, Meru South OCPD Baraza Saiya said that another student also sustained minor cuts after he attempted to rescue the girl from the scuffle.

Revenge attack

Mr. Saiya also said that the landlord was later stabbed by irate students from the university in a revenge attack.

“On Wednesday evening we were informed that a landlord had stabbed his tenant who is a female student at Chuka University. Later, angry university students stormed the landlord’s home and stabbed him in retaliation,” he said.

The three were later taken to hospital where they were treated and discharged.

The landlord is currently being held at Chuka Police Station before being arraigned in court.

Egerton University murder

A romantic relationship in Egerton University turned ugly when a fourth-year student was stabbed to death by her boyfriend after she terminated her relationship with him.

Cynthia Chelegat, 22, an Agriculture major at the Njoro main campus, is said to have been in her house when her boyfriend stormed in and allegedly stabbed her to death.

According to Chelagat’s roommate, she was preparing to leave for school when the incident occurred.

It is alleged that the man was afraid his girlfriend was about to leave him for another man. His efforts to try and convince her stay were futile.
