Furious Kenyan woman kills boyfriend with 'jembe' over text message

Tabitha Wanjiru, an 18-year-old woman from Muranga County has been arraigned in court after allegedly killing her lover over a text message.

The prosecution claims that she visited her boyfriend, John Kariuki Kiarie, at Gatura shopping centre where he lived in a rental house and killed him using a jembe handle after she saw a text message from another woman.

Plea

However, the suspect who appeared before Senior Magistrate Agnes Mwangi did not take plea after the investigating officer sought for more days to conclude investigations.

“Investigations are at an advanced stage and we will charge the woman with murder,” a police officer stated.

According to the man’s father Paul Kiarie, his son succumbed to injuries at Kenyatta National Hospital.

He said before he died, the victim disclosed that they had an argument with his lover over a love text message she saw on his phone from another woman.
