One person died on the spot while 32 others were rushe to hospital following a tragic accident along the Mobasa-Nairobi highway on Sunday morning.

The accident happened when the bus that was heading to Nairobi attempted to overtake another vehicle at Salama before colliding head-on with an on-coming vehicle heading to Mombasa.
The driver of the ill-fated bus fled the scene after the accident and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan confirmed the incident, adding that a manhunt has been launched to arrest the driver.

The casualties were rushed to Machakos level 5 hospital for treatment while the body of the deceased was taken to the morgue at the same health facility.
