Five people are reported to have perished in a grisly road accident along the busy Nairobi Mombasa highway.
The Sunday morning accident Kanga area, Tsavo along Nairobi-Mombasa Highway saw two vehicles collide head.
Makueni county commissioner Maalim Mohammed faulted the drivers of the two vehicles for the accident and appealed to road users to exercise caution and observe traffic rules.
"People lose lives because there are a few (drivers) who are careless…Why are some drivers always in hurry to a point of risking lives of passengers?" He asked.
In a separate incident, 3 KDF officer died in a road accident at Kiima Kiu, near Salama, along the Nairobi-Mombasa road.
One died on the spot while 2 others succumbed to the injuries they sustained while being treated at Machakos level five hospital where they had been rushed.
The officers from Kahawa barracks were travelling to Mombasa when their lorry lost control, veered off the road and overturned.
Mukaa police boss Charles Muthui confirmed the incident, stating that out of the 10 officers (Some of whom have since succumbed to the injuries) in the 11am accident, only one officer escaped unhurt.
