Drunk driver nearly wipes off Boniface Mwangi's family

The wreck of the car that almost wiped off activist Boniface Mwangi's family

Activist Boniface Mwangi' family narrowly escaped death in a grisly road accident on Saturday night.

Shortly after the accident, Mwangi took to Twitter, blaming a drunk driver for almost wiping off his family.

"A drunk driver almost killed my family. It’s almost been an hour since the accident happened. Called 999, still waiting,” Mwangi wrote.

He further claimed that the drunk driver attempted to bribe boda boda riders to clear several bottles of alcohol that were in his car.

Kenya Red Cross responded swiftly and evacuated the injured with police arriving later with police from Industrial Area failing to respond allegedly because the accident happened in Embakasi police area.

There is a police road block up ahead, cops from Industrial Area but they won’t respond because the accident happened in Embakasi police area,” The activist wrote.

Dispatchers who arrived at the scene of the crash conducted an alcoblow test on the driver and found him to be drunk.

Apart from being drunk, the driver did not have a valid driving licence with the owner of the car reportedly attempting to twist the story in his favour to have to pass costs to the insurer of the vehicle.

If you’re the insurer of KCE ***H, the car’s driver was totally drunk. Alcohol was also found in his car. The driver is locked up at Embakasi Police.

"Owner of the car has shown up at the scene, spoken to the cops, he wants a version that will make the insurer pay for his driver’s DUI," Mwangi stated.
