The notice outlined that the shortage will last a day to allow for the construction of the Nairobi Expressway.
"NCWSC will shut down water supply pipeline along Waiyaki Way from Kabete Water Treatment works due to ongoing construction of the Expressway.
"The shutdown will facilitate interconnection of relocated pipeline to the old pipeline along Waiyaki Way from the old Safaricom building to the junction of Waiyaki Way and Prof. Wangari Mathai Road starting from 6:00 am on Thursday 9th September, 2021 to Friday 10th September, 2021 at 6:00 am," the notice read in part.

Areas to be affected were listed as:-
- Estates along Waiyaki Way, Rhapta Road, Parklands Road, Mpaka Road, Chiromo Lane, Manyani Road and Church Road
- Highridge and Westlands areas, Muguga Green Estate, Nairobi School and Kabete barracks
- MP Shah Hospital, Sarit Centre and the surrounding estates
