Anxiety has gripped the National Super Alliance (NASA) after talks on who will be the presidential candidate among Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi collapsed.

Details have emerged that the team which was assigned to work out the formula for nominating the flagbearer had failed to reach an agreement.

The team which constitutes of twelve members has been forced to cancel a meeting planned for the weekend because they have nothing substantial to discuss.

Speaking on the matter, Lugari MP Ayub Savula disclosed that the issue is causing anxiety among affiliate parties in the alliance.

The legislator also revealed that NASA had abandoned the issue of joint nomination following opposition from Kalonzo and Wetangula.

"The brief we have is that talks on other thematic areas are still in progress… We have however been informed that the story of joint nominations has failed,” Mr Sayula was quoted.

Another MP who sought anonymity revealed that kalonzo’s attacks on Odinga and appearing to threaten NASA principals is causing chaos within the party.

“We are not agreeing on anything… The situation is getting desperate as we are constantly distracted by one MP from (former) Eastern Province who has apparently adopted a hard-line stance on everything,” the MP told the Nation.

The committee which has been tasked with coming up with flagbearer for NASA includes: Senators James Orengo (Siaya, ODM), Johnson Muthama (Machakos, Wiper) and Dr Boni Khalwale (Kakamega, Ford-K), as well as MPs Sakwa Bunyasi (Nambale, ANC), Francis Nyenze (Kitui West, Wiper), Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren) and Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini) of Ford-K and ODM’s Timothy Bosire (Kitutu-Masaba) and Dr Agnes Zani (nominated).
