Six perish in horror road crash

Several rushed to hospital

Six people died on the spot following an accident along the Nandi Hills-Kimwani road.

Five died on the spot while the sixth casualty passed on while being ferried to the hospital.

Several others were rushed to hospital with serious injuries following the Saturday accident.

Reports indicate that the 14 seater matatu lost control after its brakes failed and rammed into a tree at Chebarus.

County Police Commander Patrick Wambani confirmed the accident, stating that Five of the victims were among people who had hired the vehicle to ferry them to Bomet County for a wedding while the sixth victim had been standing by the road when she was hit by the speeding vehicle.

Michuki rules

The accident is the latest in a series of fatal crashes witnessed during the ongoing festive season.

In the wake of the accidents, authorities responded swiftly by announcing the return of stringent traffic rules, popularly referred to as Michuki rules.
