The Kenya Power and Lighting Company on Thursday issued a statement on delays that customers experienced while purchasing electricity tokens.

The statement acknowledged the delays and assured angry customers that they would receive their tokens, however, the statement was deleted some minutes after angry customers shared their displeasure.

"Good morning. Our system is currently experiencing a delay in token generation.

"We request your patience as we send your tokens. Apologies for the inconvenience," the deleted Kenya Power tweet read.
