Uhuru to sack 11 CSs

Uhuru Kenyatta is said to be preparing to send home 11 cabinet secretaries after failing to meet expectations in his first term.

The decision is said to have been communicated in a closed door meeting with the all cabinet and permanent secretaries. Sources say that the president told his cabinet that he would send anyone mentioned in any corruption case packing.

The reshuffle is suspected to make way for new faces in the cabinet, some of whom may be from opposition stronghold. This comes in the wake of division in the country following two hotly contested presidential elections.

Among the possible new entry into the cabinet is former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba who defected from the opposition. The one close ally of NASA principle Raila Odinga jumped ship and is said to be warming up to Jubilee party.

The cabinet make up may also be key to Deputy President William Ruto who is gearing up to run for presidency. The slot of Head of Public Service is up for grabs as the incumbent Joseph Kinyua is retiring.

However, a few Cabinet Secretaries are said to be keeping their positions. Among them is Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi. Matiangi has garnered praises for his education reforms but has received harsh criticism as the acting Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security.

The president is set to be inaugurated on 28 November.
