Contradicting information emerges on the death of UoN student

The UoN Law student went missing and later found dead in Mombasa

Contradicting information surrounding the mysterious death of University of Nairobi Student Dennis Munene has emerged.

The hospital reports seems to contradict with police information issued after they recovered the body of the late Munene.

According to a source at the Coast General Provincial Hospital, the body of Munene was found in a hotel swimming pool in Mtwapa, and not at the Lamayani Beach as per the police reports.

The source who spoke to “The Star” added that the 25- years old was taken to the morgue on May 12.

“He was fully clothed, even with his socks. So, he could not have been swimming. So, it is hard to understand the circumstances under which he could have drowned. His body too, has got no visible marks on it. We want to know the exact cause of his death,” Munene's sister Mercy Gichangi stated.

Munene who was a former graduate at the Kenya Institute of mass Communication (KIMC), lived alone at Allsopps area behind Naivas Supermarket and was last seen heading to town on May 9 to meet a friend.

Kilifi South police Chief Joseph Muriuki said that Munene’s body had been retrieved from the ocean. “The body was recorded as unknown. No one knew he was a student,” he said.
