Police expose 2 men planning to attack during Idd-Ul-Fitr celebrations

Beware of impeding attacks.

Police spokesperson Charles Owino has confirmed a deployment of more police officers to Witu, Mpeketoni, Lamu and susceptible areas including Mandera and Garissa, ahead of the Friday Idd-Ul-Fitr celebrations on Friday.

Police have divulged that the militants, led by Maalim Elibai and Mohammed Bilal are planning to get into the country, few hours to the highly awaited celebrations on Friday, warning the public to remain vigilant.

The warning comes hours after the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Dr Fred Matiang’i declared Friday 15 a public holiday which marks the end of Muslim’s one-month-long period of fasting, Ramadhan.

“In exercise of powers conferred by section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, Friday the 15 June 2018 shall be a Public Holiday in order to accord all Kenyans and persons who profess the Islamic Faith the opportunity to make preparations to mark IDD-UL-FITR on Saturday, 16 June 2018,” said the CS Gazette Notice dated June 12.
