Raila’s adviser warns of what will happen if NASA leader is not sworn-in

Raila's adviser warning if the NASA leader is not sworn-in.

Salim Lone pointed out two important reasons the National Super Alliance (NASA) swearing-in ceremony must continue for the good of the nation.

Firstly, Lone stated that it was imperative for NASA to inaugurate Mr. Odinga to prevent further polarization of the country.

He insisted that the controversial swearing-in ceremony will be lawful, contrary to sentiments raised by Jubilee leaders including Attorney General Githu Muigai who termed it illegal.

“Mr. Odinga’s swearing will be lawful. It will help prevent further polarization by giving Kenyans hope for electoral justice that was denied them, under a genuinely independent IEBC,” he said.

People's Assembly

Secondly, Odinga’s adviser divulged that the Opposition strategy for implementing the People’s Assembly will also help the country serious economic and justice issues.

“It will also give new impetus for the People’s Assembly to guide county assemblies in urgently addressing a number of pressing economic and justice issues that will provide material benefits to our people,” he said.

Lone also noted that the NASA leader was holding the country together by his pursuit of electoral justice.

“Mr. Raila Odinga is holding the country together through his commitment to pursuing constitutional and peaceful means for resolving issues and crimes against Kenyans that have brought us to this sorry and explosive pass," the statement read.

Ready for Dialogue

He mentioned that though Odinga was ready to have a dialogue with President Uhuru Kenyatta led Government, he would only do it on one condition- electoral justice.

“Mr. Odinga has also always been open to a dialogue. Before this election, he sought it to ensure that it would be credibly done, but there was no interest in the dialogue nor in holding an honest election.

"He has repeatedly indicated his willingness to enter into a dialogue even now if it is held between equals, as was done in 2008 between a sworn-in President Kibaki and Mr. Odinga. Mr. Odinga’s only condition for the dialogue is that it must have an agreed agenda, which should, unlike in 2008, include electoral justice," Lone remarked.

He blamed Mr. Kenyatta for the polarization after the bungled August 8 General Election and the disputed fresh presidential election held on October 26.

“Not a single action has been taken by the Kenyatta regime to lower the temperatures,” the statement reads in part.
