The three – Director of Supply Chain Management, Director of Legal and Public Affairs and the Director of Human Resources and Administration - will be employed after a rigorous interview process by a consultancy firm, the Commission has said.

For example, the position of Director of Legal and Public Affairs fell vacant in September 2017 after the holder – Praxedes Tororey – retired after she attained 60.

The Commission has announced to human resources and hiring service providers to submit their proposals to have them picked for the job of looking for the best talent.

“The consultancy firm will undertake the initial interview with the appropriate recommendations for final selections for these positions.

“Interested firms must submit among others company profile, certificates of registration and tax compliance, and have a demonstrated ability to undertake the assignment,” the Commission said in a bid statement.

Chiloba suspension

The process of hiring the three officials comes on the heel of a boiling storm over the compulsory leave handed to IEBC’s Chief Executive Officer, Ezra Chiloba. Mr Chiloba would later head to court to quash the decision by the Commission, but failed to convince the Employment and Labor Relations Court to suspend the forced leave.

In his ruling, Justice Stephen Radido directed that Chiloba proceeds on compulsory leave since it has not been proven that he will suffer any prejudice.

In his suit papers, Chiloba contended that the decision by IEBC Chairman Mr Wafula Chebukati to send him on compulsory leave was wrong as he was not given an opportunity to defend himself.

He was seeking to have the procurement misconduct claims against him disclosed and wanted temporary orders to allow him to resume work.

In his papers, he has also listed Commissioners, Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu as respondents to the suit. The hearing date was set for May 7.
