Uhuru's team slapped with 12Hr-ultimatum

Yesterday, Mr Kenyatta met over 5000 Gusii elders and the new turn might ruin his deal

Hours after lodging a petition to seek the removal of the Chief Justice David Maraga, Uhuru’s team has been given 12 hours to withdraw the case.

A group of Kisii County Members of Parliament have given Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu who submitted the onslaught against the CJ to the Judicial Service Commission, a few hours to recall the case.

The move to seek a removal of CJ Maraga comes a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta reiterated that he has a problem with the individual (CJ Maraga), but not the Abagusii Community.

On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta held a meeting with over 5000 leaders from Nyamira and Kisii Counties, in a bid to dangle carrots, seeking for a reelection after the Supreme Court annulled his win.

Meanwhile, Mr Wambugu in a 14-page document has accused the CJ of being partisan and overturning the will of over 15 million people, a move he has claimed that goes against Article 1 of the constitution on the Supreme will of the people.

In the 14-page petition, Mr Wambugu accuses the president of the top court in the land of “gross misconduct”.

The Jubilee lawmaker wants the Judicial Service Commission, the employer of judges and magistrates, to investigate the conduct of Judge Maraga since his appointment as Chief Justice.

Mr Wambugu accuses the CJ of instituting "a judicial coup" as the head of the third arm of government.

Wambugu claims Judge Maraga has been held captive by a group of NGOs who have been campaigning against Mr Kenyatta's presidency since 2013.
