Jubilee Senator badly humiliated after today’s court ruling

Major blow for the Jubilee Senator.

Linturi who was last month de-registered from the Varsity for using fake academic papers to secure admission as a law student in 2014, wanted the High Court to compel UoN to include him on the list.

However, the court on Friday dismissed the Senator’s plea.

Th University's Senate discovered that the degree from a university in India Linturi used to get the admission was forged.

“Universities admit students on the basis of their qualifications and if it is discovered that you forged your document, then the institution is at liberty to stop you from continuing with your studies,” a senior official at UoN was earlier quoted by the Nation.

After he was de-registered the politician sued the University alleging that it was a ploy by his opponents to disparage his name.

“It was illegal, unreasonable and an utter show of bad faith for the university to de-register Mr Linturi without conducting its own independent investigations or informing him at the very least so as to afford him the right to be heard,” his lawyer told the court.

Senator Linturi was among 106 leaders blacklisted by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for failing to pass the integrity test before the August 8 elections.

The anti-graft body wanted the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to bar Linturi from vying during the poll but he sought a temporary reprieve from the High Court.
