Speaking in Kisumu ahead of President Kenyatta’s anticipated visit, Odinga noted that eight years since the promulgation of the 2010 constitution, the country is still yet to realize unity of Kenyans, equity and tame corruption.

“We have not yet crossed the bridge even after we enacted new laws which were expected to put an end to repression and exclusion,” Raila said.

He divulged that among the areas that shall be looked at in the radical changes are electoral laws, stating that “We cannot assume that the electoral laws and the executive structure is good enough to go into another election, without foreseeing any trouble”.

Deal with Uhuru and his visit to Kisumu

Once again, the NASA boss reiterated that one of the compelling reasons for the March 09 handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta was constitutional reforms and they are keen on addressing this.

“We cannot do the same thing, the same way all the times and expect similar results. We have to retreat, retrace our steps and make necessary changes,” Odinga affirmed.

He urged Kisumu residents to turn out in large numbers to receive the president when he visits the county next week.
