Important meeting where leaders will get invite cards at the gate

President Uhuru Kenyatta will be hosting about 3,000 Mt Kenya leaders at Sagana State Lodge.

Reports indicate that Deputy President William Ruto will not be attending the meeting.

County Commissioners and their deputies tasked with inviting Governors, MPs, Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) and selected community leaders.

The Standard reported that President Kenyatta has chosen to hold the meeting with Mt Kenya leaders to whip them to his side ahead of publishing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

MPs Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), Sabina Chege (Murang’a County MP) and Maina Kamanda (nominated) also confirmed they have been called.

Agenda of Sagana meeting hidden

“We have been invited by the President and will honour it. We can differ in opinion but the president and DP are still our leaders until 2022 as per the law,” he said.

Igembe South John Paul who is an independent candidate also confirmed he was invited.

“I received a call from State House to attend the meeting,” the MP confirmed.

In the invite, the president did not disclose what the agenda of the meeting was.

Development in Mt Kenya

Some reports have intimated that President Kenyatta will be seeking resolve claims of ignoring the Mt. Kenya region on matters development as he has been accused by a section of MPs.

Those expected to attend were asked to make it early and they will get their attendance cards at the State Lodge gate upon presenting their Identity Cards and phone numbers.

Reports have also indicated that the president could have left out some Tangatanga lawmakers who have rattled him in the past.
