The important details that could be removed from your ID card

Will this help?

If a proposal by Elders Association of Kenya (EAK) is approved, the Identification cards of all Kenyans could be recalled in order to make major changes.

Speaking during a press conference, the elders want the format of IDs changed in order to remove the place of birth and other details revealing one's ethnic background.

As per their proposal, they want the District to be changed to Kenya while the Division to indicate a person’s County of residence.

All other details such as location and sub-location are to be removed. According to the elders, these details were propagating ethnic divisions in the country.
