Governor Mutua stoned and heckled in Machakos

Machakos residents over the weekend vented their anger on Alfred Mutua on what they termed as abandonment by the governor.

On his way to Athi River town, Mutua received a hostile reception at KAPA, the Gateway Mall area and in Mlolongo town.

The hostile crowd at Gateway Mall comprised of sand dealers attempted to pelt the governor’s motorcade with stones when he tried to address them.

Mutua was forced to speed off without addressing the hostile crowd.

Earlier, residents of Mavoko Sub-County publicly told off Mutua warning him to stop wasting time looking for votes in the area.

According to The Star, the residents declared the constituency as a NASA stronghold.

“There is no way we can be duped to vote for Mutua again. He sidelined Mavoko immediately we voted him as governor in 2013. Why is he reaching out to us for votes now?” an angry resident said.

They residents heckled Mutua, shouting Wiper when he tried to address the rowdy crowd at Mavoko Stadium in Athi River Town.

Mutua broke  ranks with the Wiper Party and its leader Kalonzo Musyoka and formed his own party-Maendeleo Chap Chap.

Mutua is expected to face stiff competition from Wavinya Ndeti who emerged the winner in the Wiper Party nominations beating Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala.

The Governor said the results of the Wiper primaries were not genuine.

"These additional numbers are cooked figures and ghost voters. The Wiper figures are fake, fake and fake and pure propaganda,” Mutua said.

Mutua blamed Wavinya and Mavoko MP Patrick Makau for being behind his misfortunes.

The Governor insisted urged the residents to consider reelecting him saying he had an impeccable development track record.
