Hilarious symbols independent candidates have used

Thousands of independent candidates, among them 10 presidential candidates, have been forced to use any symbols to suit the IEBC directive as the dateline lapse.

Many candidates have been forced to use funny symbols which, at the end of the day will appear on the ballot papers in the August polls.

An independent candidate is an individual or a politician who is not affiliated to any political party.

At the moment, almost 3000 candidates have been cleared by the Registrar of Political Parties to vie for various positions as independent candidates, in a move some analysts say is expected to shape the country’s political landscape.

Among the challenges they face includes submitting a symbol that they will use to represent them on the ballot paper. It is not as easy as it sounds.

A one Willis Ouma, a Kisauni Constituency parliamentary seat contester settled for a pack of toothpicks. He has argued that his symbol is an essential ‘tool’ for every Kenyan since “We must all pick our teeth after every meal regardless,” he said.

On the other hand, another candidate, Brian Omondi settled on an eight gigabyte flash disk drive, he argued that “There is no other candidate who used the flash drive especially one that can handle such quantity of data.”
