The last time Tom Mboya Ang’ang’a popularly known as Atomy Sifa was in the news was because he bleached his skin.
Now he is in the news after going into exile following the release of a song where he praised Uhuru alongside another artiste by the name Tede Ja-Kenya.
He went into exile in Tanzania following death threats as the song has been viewed as a slap in the face to Raila.
“People called me, threatening that they will kill me for insulting Raila Odinga in the song.” He told The Nation after expressing that he fears for his life.
The song called Uhuru Nyale (Uhuru is Capable) seeks to garner votes for Uhuru Kenyatta for a second term and praises Uhuru while asking the people what Raila has done for them.
Nation reports that Sifa was approached alongside 3 Luo musicians by top Jubilee Party bloggers and officials in Nyanza to compose a song praising the president but the Jubilee party could not meet the amount asked for by the other Benga musicians. And since Atomy was facing financial difficulties, he agreed to a much lower sum than the other musicians wanted.
However, Sifa has dissociated himself from the song stating that he can never write anti-Raila song given that he has in the past praised him. He says that he was featured in the video without knowing it was a pro-Jubilee party video.
“You know that I have composed more than four songs for Mr Odinga and I cannot compose a song calling him names.” He said before adding “I never knew what the song was all about. I was invited to be part of the video but later realized it was disparaging Mr Odinga.
As of now, Mr Sifa’s home in Adiedo Karachuonyo in Homa Bay County is empty after he fled to Tanzania.
