When a couple breaks up especially celebrity couples, the blame almost always falls on the lady in the mix despite people having scanty information about what led to the spilt.

We have seen this in the case of Betty Kyallo, This is Ess and even Zarinah Hassan in the case of her marriage to the late Ivan Ssemwanga.

After years of speculation, Zari has finally broken her silence and spilt the tea on what led to her break up with the late Ivan, a man she had built a life and an empire with.

“Ivan was not really a bad guy he was just obsessed. He was really obsessed with me that the obsession grew into something else. It got to a point it was physical, really nasty physical. I tried working on our relationship. I booked counselling sessions for us but he would pay the counsellor to say that he came but he didn’t. We tried the elders and our family to intervene but nothing.” Zari said on Celeb Select.

“I kept the relationship together as we had kids and an empire together, people were quick to say ooh Zari is jumpy but I was thinking of what was at stake. It wasn’t me, I stayed in a very abusive relationship until I said I cannot. It got to a point that when I said I want to leave he would face me down the balcony and told me if I want to leave it was through the balcony.” She shared her harrowing ordeal. The Boss Lady also revealed that the fights got to a point where her eldest son witnessed the horrible fights but leaving wasn’t the easiest option for her. “It was difficult as you don’t just wake up and pack your bags and go.”

She finally mustered up the courage to leave Ivan and even managed to forgive him to a point that they became friends again. “I forgave him and I made peace with myself.”
