A video of a cheerful Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu while in Kamiti Maximum Prison has emerged online.

Joyful Jowie was seen attending a service by City preacher Rev. Lucy Natasha at the Maximum Prison where she occasionally goes to give hope to inmates at Kamiti.

This was after she featured on K24 news anchor Betty Kyallo’s ‘Up Close’ show on Friday night, and Kamiti was one of the places they visited.

It’s because I have a strong passion for just giving hope to people who feel rejected. This is a prison where people are on a life sentence. I tell them to look at Kamiti as a college and not a prison,” stated Rev. Natasha.

Monica Kimani murder

Jowie was charged alongside his fiancée Jacque Maribe with the murder of business woman Monica Kimani who was found dead inside her apartment in Kilimani.

They two (Jacque and Jowie) denied murdering Ms Kimani and Maribe was later on released on bail, while Jowie was denied bail.

Jowie’s initial bail application was denied by Justice James Wakiaga saying that he was a flight risk, had access to weapons and could intimidate witnesses.
