Dilated pores are basically giant blackheads, and form the same way when sebum and dead skin cells clog the pore.

They're usually benign and relatively easy for a trained professional to remove, but you should avoid trying to squeeze them on your own.

In one of her most eye-opening-and eye-closing, for her patient- Instagram videos yet, Dr. Pimple Popper (aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD removes a small cyst located just above a man's eye. In the video, published on Thursday night, Dr. Lee starts by giving the cyst, known as a dilated pore of winer, a good squeeze between two fingers. Then she follows up with a pair of tweezers to complete the rest of the extraction. If you watch the clip and have questions, here's what we know about what just happened.

What is a Dilated Pore of Winer?

A dilated pore of winer (also known simply as a dilated pore), which Dr. Lee references in the caption to the video, is basically just a giant blackhead. They form the same way: Hair follicles get clogged with oil and sebum, and the pore dilates. Because of its exposure to the air, the material oxidizes, which turns it black. Despite their unseemly appearance, however, they're usually benign and nothing to freak out about.

How Do You Treat a Dilated Pore?

It's not recommended that you squeeze the contents out yourself-that can just cause the area to become inflamed, and in many cases, it'll just fill back up. If you can't stand the sight of it, you'll want to see a professional, who will perform an excision, which involves removing the walls of the cyst and reduces the likelihood that it will make a return appearance. After that, along with maybe some ointment, your skin usually heals up within a week to 10 days. Easy.
