When a couple breaks up, there’s always the odd chance that it’s not over for one partner.

And while staying together may no longer be an option, there are times women will go to interesting lengths to try to get back together with the ex.

Here are nine things women do to get their exes back.

Text bombing

It’s like you can’t believe the relationship is over. You text bomb your ex’s phone, sending message after message and even after getting endlessly blue ticked, you resend the first message.

Calling

Unless you have children or a pet you both loved, then you shouldn’t be calling your ex. But you’ll find yourself calling him in the morning, at lunch hour, at cocktail hour and at odd hours of the night.

Pitifully listening to the dial tone buzz hoping that just once, he’ll pick up.

Showing up unannounced

This happens most often when the reason for the breakup was another woman. You’ll show up at an event you had both planned to attend. Difference is, you don’t even show up with a date. You only show up to either remind him of how much fun you used to have together or to make his new girl uncomfortable. OR you just missed him and wanted to spy on his from behind a booth.

Ex sex

While the relationship may not have been successful, the sex definitely wasn’t a flop. The physical attraction could also notably be there with your ex and you’ll take any chance to hop into bed with him to coerce him into a relationship again.

Asking questions

This would be an uncomfortable topic for anyone. It’s not a job that you’ve just been fired from. There’s no list from HR to show your misdemeanours. It’s a complex, entangled emotional thing a breakup. And you’ll be demanding answers from your ex either for closure or so that you can change and be perfect for him.

Grand gesturing

This is a Hollywood phenomenon where the leading man performs a grand romantic gesture so as to win the lady over again. Sometimes the lady does it, like in 27 Dresses where Katherine Heigl crashes a wedding to confess her love to James Marsden. Or in Notting Hill where Julia Roberts bared her heart to Hugh Grant in one of the most iconic moments in romcom history. And you’ll be googling the hell out of those moments to surprise your ex.

Making him jealous

This is done either by expertly emphasising the number of handsome men you have around you. Suddenly your MCM Instagram posts will be overflowing. You’ll be posting about all the hot celebrities you wish you could have orgies with. You will also be attending a lot of events, going to parties and making sure to tag your ex’s friends so that he will come across the pictures.

Testing him to see if he still cares

Some women will still have their exes as the next of kin or the emergency contact. And some will deliberately let it remain that way.

Telling yourself, “If he shows up in an emergency, it means he still cares.”

Making sure he knows you’re doing ok

You find yourself frequenting places where your ex’s crew recurrently hang out. And when they see you, they know you’re just ok. And the word will get back to your ex that you’re over him and not miserable or broken hearted.
