Luke was not only a star, he was an incredibly bright light that was extinguished far too soon... and that is why I, and so many others, are in so much pain today... If you had the good fortune to know Luke, or to have ever crossed his path, I know you are sad today as well... the candle that burns twice as bright only burns for half as long... you burned oh, so brightly Luke... Goodnight Sweet Prince. A post shared by jason_priestley (@jason_priestley) on Mar 7, 2019 at 12:12am PST

Its taken me a couple of days to figure out how to write this, Priestley says in the post. My dear friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who really cared... Others who worked with Perry on the popular nineties teen drama have also shared what he meant to them. Tiffani Thiessen, who played Valerie Malone, wrote about Perrys generosity towards her when she joined the show. He welcomed me on my very first day of #90210 with open arms, she said. This man took me under his wing and made me feel at home. Made me feel like I belonged in his TV family. He was sincere, sweet, warm, kind, professional and funny as all heck. And most of all, the definition of a gentleman.

In addition to playing brooding heartthrob Dylan McKay in 90210, Perry also starred in the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer and TV dramas Oz and Jeremiah-and at the height of his fame, made a memorable, good-humored cameo as himself in an episode of The Simpsons. More recently, he became known to a whole new generation of fans as Fred Andrews, Archies dad, in The CWs Riverdale.

On March 7, Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa announced that the remaining episodes of the shows third season, which is currently airing, will be dedicated to the memory of Luke Perry.
