1,395 new Covid-19 cases in Kenya, total surpasses 55,000 mark

Kenya's Covid-19 cases are now at 55,192 after 1,395 more people tested positive for the virus.

The new cases were detected after 7,635 samples were tested at various labs. Cumulative tests now stand at 695,087.

Distribution by county was; Nairobi (569), Nakuru (149), Kiambu (148), Mombasa (147), Uasin Gishu (60), Kilifi (41), Kericho (30), Laikipia (27), Machakos (26), Kajiado (25), Kisumu (19), Meru (18), Kakamega (15), Busia (14), Bungoma (13), Samburu (12), Nyeri (11), Siaya (10), Tharaka Nithi (9), Kisii (7), Bomet, Murang'a & Taita Taveta (6 each), Homa Bay & Kwale (4 each), Elgeyo Marakwet & Nandi (3 each), Embu, Baringo, Nyamira & Wajir (2 each), Migori, Nyandarua, Trans Nzoia, Narok and Kirinyaga (1 each).

Deaths and Recoveries

Fifteen more patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total fatalities to 996.

The number of patients who recovered from the disease were 1,087; 1,019 from the home-based care program and 68 from various hospitals. Total recoveries stand at 36,963.
