The widow of Mombasa tycoon Jimmy Jagatram Baburam has been accused of planning and executing the murder of her husband.
State prosecutor Alexander Monda told the court that Ms Amina Shiraz Yacoub together with her American lover Jacob Schmalze killed Mr Jagatram.
Mr Monda, told High Court Judge Dorah Chepkwony, that the two suspects drowned Jagatram in a swimming pool at Medina Palms in Watamu on June 26, 2015.
According to the prosecution, Ms Yacoub planned the murder in order to inherit Jagatram's estate, worth Ksh500 million, and a life insurance cover worth Ksh50 million.
Bribery allegations
Judge Chepkwony also heard that Ms Yacoub offered the sleuth probing the murder Abdi Sheikh, Ksh45,000 in order to influence the investigation.
Mr Abdi, who was charged with obstruction of justice, claimed Yacoub sent her the money as a gift for a religious ceremony.
Her alleged lover Mr Schmalze has since fled to the US and an arrest warrant against him issued, according to the prosecution.
Her lawyers Ahmednasir Abdullahi and Jared Magolo accused the witnesses in the case of being influenced by Jimmy's father to testify against Shiraz claims they denied.
Baburam has denied claims that he is after his son' wealth and insisted he wants to know what transpired that night at the swimming pool.
The lawyers said that Jagatram drowned after falling into the pool while drunk.
