Martha Karua Surprises DP Ruto with unexpected announcement

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has announced that she will back Deputy president William Ruto's presidential bid for 2022.Speaking during a public forum, Karua noted that Ruto had done an excellent job of uniting the people of Central and Rift Valley.The 2013 presidential aspirant urged the people of central to reward the DP's gesture in 2022 by overwhelmingly voting for him.

"No one thought that Rift valley could work with central Kenya until William Ruto made it possible."We can only reward Ruto by voting and making him the president in 2022. That is the spirit of nationhood," she emphasised.Karua, who was once a fierce critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, surprised many when she announced her support for the Jubilee administration.Despite flirting with the Opposition, the former Gichugu MP denounced the Raila Odinga led team and announced she would vie for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat on a Narc Kenya ticket.

The former legislator was a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga and had even joined the opposition leader in calling for the eviction of former IEBC commissioners from office.

Other contestants eyeing the seat include incumbent Joseph Ndathi and former devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru. Despite the President and his deputy pushing Karua to fold her party and join Jubilee, the 2013 presidential aspirant has maintained that she will vie on a Narc Kenya ticket.
