An autopsy of Evaline Namukhula's body has revealed that she died of a heart condition and not an embolism as earlier reported.
Dr Benson Macharia, a pathologist at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, explained that the mother of quintuplets succumbed to complications of weakened heart muscles.
The doctor outlined that the condition is known as Peripartum Cardiomyopathy which is not always fatal for new mothers.

Dr Macharia added that Ms Namukhula's case turned fatal due to the multiple birth.
Heart was slightly swollen
The pathologist further dismissed earlier reports which had indicated that she died as a result of a pulmonary embolism.
"There were no blood clots as earlier reported, examination showed a lot of fluid was in her lungs around the heart and also her heart was slightly swollen," he stated.
According to the American Heart Association, the condition as "an uncommon form of heart failure that happens during the last month of pregnancy or up to five months after giving birth. Cardiomyopathy literally means heart muscle disease."

Namukhula died on Sunday afternoon after complaining of chest pains. She was taken through an MRI examination and later collapsed.
