President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday night hosted an after-party at the Mama Ngina Waterfront following the celebration of Mashujaa Day in Mombasa County.

The Park was lit up with outdoor lights, complete with a display of fireworks as the President officially re-opened the seaside park.

The park is set to become one of the Coastal Region's tourist attraction sites featuring the Kilindini Cultural Centre, a number of open-air eateries and an impressive view of the ocean.

The President had earlier held a State luncheon at Mombasa State House where he freely mingled with some of the day's honourees and other State leaders.

Uhuru jets off to Japan

President Kenyatta left the country shortly after the Mashujaa Day after-party and State House officials confirmed that he was headed for Japan.

The President's handlers stated that the trip to Japan is for bilateral talks.

the President will also travel to Russia for the first ever Africa-Russia summit at the Black Sea Resort of Sochi that will be hosted by President Vladimir Putin.

Sessions will be co-chaired by President Putin and AU Chairman who is also Egypt's President, Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi.
