Long walk to power

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is many things to many people but there is little doubt that he is one of Kenyas most resilient politicians.

Unknown to many people, Waititu joined politics in 2002 as Njiru Ward Councillor in the Embakasi constituency.

In less than two decades, Waititu has risen to become an Deputy Mayor, MP, Assistant Minister, and as Governor to one of the counties with the highest revenues in the country.

The rough-looking Governor is also one of the few Kenyan politicians who have managed to transition from various elective area.
