Wanjigi caught off guard by government, days after Raila-Uhuru deal

He didn't see it coming

Controversial businessman Jimi Wanjigi was on Thursday caught off guard after the government continued prosecuting him and his father in a criminal case involving careless gun handling.

The withdrawal of the case had earlier been reported to have been one of the informal agreements made after President Uhuru Kenyatta met with NASA leader Raila Odinga.

Wanjigi’s lawyer Kiogora Mugambi had on Monday stated that he was privy to information that the case would be formally terminated at a Nyeri Court on Thursday.

However, come Thursday, Mugambi was surprised after Senior Counsel Wesley Nyamachae told Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo that the DPP had no intention of terminating the four cases affecting the Wanjigis.
