A prisoner at Kangundo Prison was shot dead as he attempted to grab a gun from an officer, on Saturday morning.
Confirming the incident, Kangundo OCPD Benjamin Ong'ombe said that the inmate was in the process of being transferred to Machako GK Prison, when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Ong'ombe said that the inmate got hostile and tried to grab an AK-47 from the officer on duty, forcing him to shoot.
He added that the body of the inmate was taken to Kangundo Hospital Mortuary.
