Police discovered a decomposing body inside a house belonging to a University of Nairobi lecturer.
Reports intimated that the body police found was that of her 13-year-old son.
The lecturer has been arrested after body which is said to have been wrapped in a blanket was found.
Nairobi area police boss Philip Ndolo said officers found the body in the living room at 6pm on Wednesday.
Lecturer hiding in the kitchen
Mr Ndolo told journalists that the suspect was in the house at the time officers arrived at the crime scene.
The lecturer Anna Hotannah Khahugan was found hiding in the kitchen after police broke down the door and entered the house.
Stephen Mwangi, the caretaker of the apartment said he called the police after a foul smell emanating from the house prompted him to peep through a window when he saw a body wrapped in a blanket and lying in the sitting room.
The police found the body of the 13-year-old boy, identified as Emmanuel Solomon Inyama, lying on the floor.
