Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef, has gained national attention after cooking nonstop for more than 90 hours in an effort to break the Guinness record.
Lata Tondon set a record of 87 hours and 45 minutes in India in 2019, but the Nigerian chef blew past that record at 7:46 am on Monday, May 15, 2023, clocking 87 hours and 46 minutes, and immediately revealed that she was going for the 100 hour mark.
Regardless of the certainty of the reward for her effort, the Guinness Book of World record have noted that they must investigate her performance before officially giving her the award. While the world awaits an official confirmation, many Nigerians are already begun celebrating what they believe to be an inevitable victory.
The 27-year-old has been cooking nonstop since 4 pm on Thursday, May 11, and plans to keep cooking till 4 pm today to reach her record goal of 96 hours. She would eventually up that ambition to 100 hours, which means that she would cook till 8 pm.

Though momentum started out slow on Thursday, Hilda has become a viral sensation with a massive wave of support from Nigerians.
Many people online have wished her well, and politicians and celebrities have called her or stopped by to encourage her at the Amore Gardens location where she’s been cooking, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Charles Okocha, Tiwa Savage, Enioluwa, Pamilerin, and Sydney Talker, just to mention a few.
Support has also been pouring in from brands like Vesti, Zaron Cosmetics and many others.
