People were keen on news of how this guy was arrested and Larry Madowo has now provided information of how his apprehension went down.

Speaking to Larry Madowo, Alex’s brother Alphonce Mutuku said that on one afternoon of 7 March a number of plainclothes policemen stormed into their house and arrested Alex Mutuku. They also took away every gadget in their modest abode including the TV and a laptop.

And a fortnight later, Alex Mutuku was arraigned in caught over the charges of defrauding the lump sum from the tax authority.

Which came as a shock to not only those who knew Alex but also the suspect who said that he laughed in disbelief after learning that KRA had lost 4B and he was to take the fall.

“I DO NOT have 4B, or any part of 4B. In fact, my life’s savings are not even remotely close to one billion, let alone four…I’m the patsy. Those big cajunas at KRA looted the cash and then in a smoke-filled room, smoking their Cubans – forgive my imagination; it probably was an office- decided this. Oh, this Alex boy just went on a trip and stupidly plastered it all over FB. What’s more, he has a similar case. Perfect! Go get him.”

Anyone with half a brain can figure that out. Four billion doesn’t just disappear like that without anyone noticing- for years. Even slowly.” He wrote in missive shared by his brother Alphonce.

And Alex’s account of the story that didn’t have that kind of cash was echoed by brother Alphonce who disclosed they live in Roysambu.

‘I’ve lived under the same roof with my brother, how could a billionaire live in a house whose rent is less than Sh20, 000 in Roysambu?’ he asked.

Roysambu is an estate favoured by students and people who are on their first jobs as its quite affordable with most 1 bedroom houses going for less than 15,000.
