He had deep cuts on his hands indicating that he had been tortured before being killed. His body was found alongside that of 21-year-old Carol Ngumbu a college student who had been shot in the head.

Following the death of the ICT head at IEBC, Kenyans have expressed outrage on social media. And on Tuesday they took to the streets to protest the death of not only Musando but Carol too.

Marching into town the Kenyans carried placards that demanded that Interior CS Matiang’i speaks up, that security will be ensured for IEBC officials and that killers should ‘stop planting women in their killings.”

Speaking to the press, Human rights activist and former anti-corruption PS, John Githongo asked the security agencies to speed up the investigations into the murder as it was ‘a matter of utmost urgency.’

He also said, “It’s a deeply troubling development given that there are only 7 days to go to the general elections, the timing of his torture and murder serves to undermine Kenya’s election management body at this most crucial time in the work of the IEBC.”

Away from the offline protest, Kenyans are now protesting the murder through the hashtags #YouCantKillUsAll
