Kamiti prisoner sends unusual message to stranger, gets unexpected response
It may seem that not all Kamiti prisoners are out to con Kenyans.
But it may seem that not all the prisoners are out to con you.
A member of the popular Kilimani Mums and Dads Facebook group, Paul Jims, posted a conversation between him and one of the prisoners, identified as Wilson Mutuma and it was definitely one for the books.
Wilson, instead of doing the obvious and trying to con Paul, made a humble request to Paul, asking him to send him some money to buy soap.
“Helo, mimi naitwa David Ngugi, niko njela nilifungwa maisha na sina mtu yeyote anaweza nisandia, so nimebahatisha tu number, kama mungu amekujali nitumie mia mbili ni buy sabuni plz.( Hello, my name is David Ngugi and I was sentenced to life in prison. I do not have anyone to help me out but I’m just trying my luck here and hopefully God will touch you to please send for me 200 shillings to buy soap)” he wrote.
Wilson did not expect the response that he got but was either way grateful that Paul had decided to help him out.
Paul went on to ask him for his full names so as to pay him a visit at the prison.
He decided to seize the opportunity and added other basic necessities including a toothbrush and medicine to his request.
Here is the full conversation:
The post received mixed reactions from members of the group with some of them believing that Wilson may be telling the truth while others did not buy his story.
“Buy the requirements he asked for and if you have to go don’t go on that specific day he asked you to and again get like 3 or 4 strong guys to accompany you. He is too open to be trusted. Waweza kuwa wapangiwa jama. Be on the look out. Na after umeenda please bring back the results.
“Huyu ameomba kwa heshima na hajatry kucon. Kama unayo msaidie.”
“Ata mwenye kupost(more of a pseudo ) anaweza kua amecreate hii conversation ndio akipima ujinga wetu arudi hapa atupatie number yake tumsend pesa ati znaenda kwa mfungwa, hii njaanuary tutakipata.”
What do you think? Is the prisoner being genuine with his request?
